All private Bank accounts in Ireland are insured. If one has been looking at any newspaper they would have noticed that Ireland was the first to do so. I am not one to be giving any advice, but what I would say is to SPEAK TO YOUR BANK. It will not mean that they will tell you the truth, but at least you can make an informed decision of some sort. Because there are so many different account types, including ones linked to the stock market, it is imperative you feel that your money is safe.
If you are not happy with your Bank then you should contact - The Financial Services Ombudsman of Ireland

The Mayo Gay scene is basically a non-go zone. There is not any openly gay bars until one hits Galway City, which is possibly the best place to go. In Swinford there is a gay friendly bar called DeRoiste Bar (Gay-friendly) Main St, Swinford, Co Mayo. It is a Lesbian-owned bar now holding gay nights every Thursday night. 7pm til close. In Sligo one can always go to Matchmaker.com – where they have a specific section on Sligo. There is some good advice about How to locate Gay Bars in Ireland here. Or you can read our other posts on Gay Bars and Saunas in Dublin IRELAND
This is just a quick breakdown of one of the most successful Irish Artists ever, Enya. Her music has blown people away all over the world, her haunting voice, her patient words, her quiet character. Enya is an amazing artist who continues to create and surprise.

Do not ask anyone 'do they know your Great-Gran Auntie Mary?' that came over to New York 155 years ago. This will only invoke rage.
Do not order a half pint of Guinness. No one serves a half pint of Guinness in Ireland. Half glasses are for soft drinks, whiskey and tourists.
Burn all your T-Shirts with ‘Kiss me, I’m Irish’ on them.
Since Obama won, you can finally tell people you are American again. For a while it was Canadian, African-American Land or Silence.
Irish dogs are usually viscous. Do not approach one without a steel bar or a gun.
Keep your mouth closed.
Do not ask anyone for directions during your walk around Dublin. Anyone approaching you who looks like a leprechaun, is more than likely a Heroine Addict.
When visiting your long-lost relatives, bring them a bottle of whiskey, a packet of biscuits and leave after 30 minutes.
If you happen to be a German tourist, do not wear a Swastika.
Yes, TIPS are the norm in Ireland. This is especially for those Europeans who refuse to pay them whilst in a foreign country.
Drive on the legal side of the road as head-on-collisions can ruin your holiday. If you are going to drive on the wrong side of the road, hire an SUV.

I am not going to race into specifics here, we all know the Irish economy is going to tatters and only getting worse by the day. Fortunately we still have a somewhat hopping tourism industry that can well accommodate some extra workers. The most important fact about finding summer work in Ireland is to move to the right place.
Dublin looks tempting but after you pay 3 months deposit on a room the size of a cell, you will be lucky to be eating Pot Noodle and Stale Bread for your dinner.
Galway is another option but Jobs and Employment in general are getting really scarce on the ground all along The West of Ireland – especially since the building boom is collapsing. I would suggest a trip down to some serious tourist towns like Killarney or West Cork(Bantry or Skibbbereen) - There is also Dingle, Kinsale(Cork), Kilrush(Clare) and Dungarvan(Waterford).
In Ireland there is very little point looking or expecting a job by sending in a CV. What you are searching for is Waitering, building or some other EASY TYPE OF JOB, that brings in the required money to party as often as you like. There is nothing worse than going to Ireland for the summer and having to actually work.
Factor in a good week of traveling when you arrive in Ireland - just to get a feel for the place and to talk to Employers Shop-keepers and whole host of other folk who would be looking for such services in the summer.
WARNING - Keep away from farming jobs or manual labor employment unless you are really there to work hard and make money.
The only actual website that is worth a look is the NATIONAL JOB AGENCY - all the others are not really for summer job applicants.
On this Website, the employer will give their phone number so there is no waiting around. Anyway, you will probably hear a lot of negativity if you ever consider going here – but there is always work in Ireland and it is an amazing way to spend a summer. Check the 'Evening Herald' newspapers in Dublin and 'The Echo' in Cork - they can also be a good resource for Flats and Jobs. Have a good time.

There is an amazing site called Flirtbox that offers dating and contacts all over Ireland. They are really good because they break it down into specific areas – so the people you are corresponding with could be just down the road from you.
FLIRTBOX DATING-IRELAND
Other than that there are a range of Dances held each week all over the city. The Echo has some excellent pages that need to be read on a weekly basis. The Gumtree website is also an excellent place to meet people – as is Craigslist, if one is located in Dublin.
