Last time I stayed in the Aran Islands, I was drunk and acting very Irish. Not much point talking about that experience, but I do know a thing or two about the Islands, as I have frequented the place more than once. First things first, if one is in Ireland they must go to Aran. The best way to get there is from Rossaville(Galway you spend 3-4 hours on a ferry and miss Connemara), especially if you get a little Sea Sick, its one trip after another over the side of the Boat.
Best Attraction?
I would have to say Dún Aonghasa Stone Fort(but the whole Island is amazing). Dún Aonghasa Stone Fort is thze largest of the prehistoric stone forts of the Aran Islands. It is enclosed by three massive dry-stone walls and a “chevaux-de-frise” consisting of tall blocks of limestone set vertically into the ground to deter attackers. The fort is about 900m from the Visitor Centre and is approached over rising ground. Access for visitors with disabilities to the Visitor Centre. As much of the tour is outdoors, visitors are advised to wear weather protective clothing and shoes suitable for walking over uneven terrain.
