Ballyshunnock Reservoir is just off the Cork Road, N25, between Waterford and Dungarvan,turn north at Carrolls Cross Inn. From Portlaw go up the hill past the Church and continue on until you see the reservoir. The water surface at normal levels is approximately seventy acres. It is split by the Carrolls Cross/Portlaw road which crosses it over a causeway. Trout stocks in the section west of the road are smaller in numbers but larger size than those in the main body of water. €20 per day for shore fishing. No boats are allowed on Ballyshunnock. Methods Fly, spinning, worming, from shore. Ground baiting and use of maggots prohibited. Bag limit: 6 trout. Size limit: 23 cm. A day ticket for shore fishing also entitles one to fish at any of the following waters, Knockaderry, Ballyshunnock, and Carrigavantry (near Tramore) for that day only.
