The Rose of Tralee is filled with crazy people(and not so crazy), who hit the streets of Tralee for one mad piss-up filled with insults, fighting, drinking and serious partying. If you are going(especially as a family) then be prepared for a serious wild night out. The Rose of Tralee is a grade A Festival, full of Irish madness and soul, with a mix of musical overload and vomiting. It has now become an International Festival (Like them all), and it takes its inspiration from the old Irish song - ‘The Rose of Tralee’. The words of the song are credited to C. (or E.) Mordaunt Spencer and the music to Charles William Glover. It is held in August, the presenter is usually from RTE and the contestants are from all over the world.
Apparently, the contestants are judged on their great personality and suitability to serve as ambassadors for the festival and for Ireland. Each county picks its Rose as well as various places all over the world.
The UK, Birmingham, Boston, Darwin, Dubai, France, London, Luxembourg, Newcastle, New York, New Orleans, New Zealand, Perth, Queensland, San Francisco, Southern California, South Australia, Sydney, Texas, Toronto and many more centres who take part in the qualifying rounds.
