Near Carrick-on Suir, in Co. Tipperary are fine examples of Celtic High Crosses of Ireland. The most notable and famous of these is the Ahenny North Cross in Ahenny. The fact that both of these are National Treasures says something about their importance, in fact, seeing the sheer size of one of these is enough to make the visit worthwhile, with celtic and religious figures of priests, horseman and various animals carved into the cross and inscriptions similar to those in The Book of Kells -there are well worth a visit.

So, Healthcare and Medical issues are always an issue when one visits any country, whether it be on Holidays or longer. Ireland is pretty good when it comes to general Healthcare (Local Doctors etc) but one can get shocked at the Q’s in some of the local Doctor’s Offices.
Hospitals outside the major citiies and towns are shockingly under-staffed - so get prepared for long waits. If you are going abroad from Ireland or are an EU Citizen visiting Ireland on a short stay (e.g. on holiday), you should obtain a European Health Insurance Card (previously known as an E111 form).
This will ensure you will be covered under any emergency(Including Dental) Medical insurance is limited to two major players Quinn and VHI. There are some other companies but they are generally a waste of time if one is looking for proper medical cover. Unlike alot of EU Countries(and for that matter the USA), pretty strong pain-killers can be obtained direct from the Pharmacy(or Apotheke in German), if the medical condition isn’t too serious, this might solve your problems.
P.S
The Emergency number for all Medical and other emergencies is - 999
