Ireland Travel and Vacations

Ireland Vacations - Kilkenny Travel
The old part of Kilkenny city has an air about it that is unique amongst any Irish City. There are tiny lanes and streets that bring you back hundreds of years. Kilkenny has a pretty good Art Gallery, some of the best Hotels in Ireland and a vast array of Monastic sites. There is also an excellent Golf Course.

Ireland Vacations - Cavan Travel
Cavan seems to have more walkways, canals, lakes and beauty spots than anywhere else in Ireland. One can literally get lost. Fishing, boating and walking fans will love County Cavan. Cavan is also a 1.5 hour drive from Dublin.

Ireland Vacations - Clare Travel
Home to the Cliffs of Moher, The Burren, Kilrush and some of the wildest coastline scenery in Ireland, it is pretty hard to find a reason why you wouldn’t go to Clare. The Cliff’s of Moher is a MUST SEE spot in Ireland.

Ireland Vacation - Louth Travel
Louth is the smallest County of Ireland, but it still has much to offer. It has some excellent fishing along the Banks of the river Boyne and Carlingford Lough. All outdoors persuits can be found in Louth. Both Dundalk and Louth County are steeped in Heritage and History, with Castles and Monastic sites everyhwere. Dundalk is one of the best towns in Ireland for shopping.

Ireland Vacations - Meath Travel
Once the territory of the High Kings of Ireland, they call Meath ‘The Heritage Capital of Ireland’, which makes sense when you consider The Hill of Tara and Kells are located within its boundaries. If its Secret Ireland you are after, then Meath is your County. The County also has amazing accommodation facilities, especially B&B and Guesthouses.

There is enough of everything in Kildare. From nightlife and eateries, to fishing, walking, canals and Monastic sites, Kildare seems to have it all. A list of large urban towns like Naas, Newbridge, Celbridge, Leixlip, Maynooth, Athy, Kildare and Monasterevin are sure to give everyone something to do. Kildare is only a stones throw away from Dublin - which makes it even more attractive going to and from the Airport.

Ireland Vacations - Westmeath Travel
The Lake County lives up to its name in a big way. I had an exceptional Holiday in Athlone around eight years back. Between the fishing, nightlife, lake and boat trips, and of course, the scenery, Westmeath is in the top 10 places to visit. Athlone, right on the banks of The Shannon, is one of those town in Ireland that seem to have everything.

Ireland Vacations - Offaly Travel
For ‘pure rural Ireland, it is hard to beat Offaly. There is an array of Harvest Festivals all over the county(see papers). Offaly also has some very good music sessions going on over the weekends, especially in Birr and Edenderry

Ireland Vacations - Laois Travel
One of the biggest towns in Ireland, Portlaoise, is located about 1 hour drive from Dublin(on a good road, which is a rarity in Ireland). Slieve Bloom Mountain is a must for all Nature lovers. For a unique experience, you have the Quaker Museum in Mountmellick and some amazing Traditional Irish Music sessions going on over the weekend.

Ireland Vacations - Roscommon Travel
Roscommon has the funniest roads in Ireland. When the engineer was designing and planning the roads, he was after 12 pints of Guinness, two large whiskeys and he was also deaf and half blind. There are vast lakes filled with good fishing, some of the best village stop-offs in Ireland and if you get bored you can always try to make it to Galway without getting lost.
