Here are some of the best little places to visit in Mayo, please I tend to spend alot of time when I am up that end of the country.
CONG - MAYO
Cong is very unlike the Congo, do not fall into that trap. Nevertheless, it has its wildlife and scenery. Walkways, caves and scenery in the form of a massive lake, with serious walking paths all over the place, this is also the place where John Wayne strutted his stuff in The Quiet Man. It is also the place where Celebs get married down the road in Ashford Castle. Go there if you are passing, it would be worth it. Not really a place to spend a week, maybe a few day.
ERRIS
Erris is alive with pre-historic stones, dolmens, prehistoric ritual graves, standing
stones, monasteries, abbeys and castles. One can also find people speaking the auld Gaelic here, which has now become very rare. The Erris Literary Festival (Féile Litriochta Iorrais) takes place in Teach Iorrais, Gaoth Sáile, from June 27 - 29

BETRA BLUE FLAG BEACH - CO. MAYO
On a good day, this is one of the best Beaches in Ireland. Nice for a walk in spring or summer, nice anytime really. Can be good for surfing at times, also good for the kids.

THE CEIDE FIELDS, MAYO
Turf cutting and laying is an almost exclusive Irish activity. The most complete Stone Age monument on earth, consisting of field systems, dwelling areas and megalithic tombs, this is a must see when visiting The West.
